Booking Through Thursday: Restrictions

Bookish

Today's question:

God comes to you and tells you that, from this day forward, you may only read ONE type of book - one genre - period, but you get to choose what it is. Classics, Science-Fiction, Mystery, Romance, Cookbooks, History, Business ... you can choose, but you only get ONE.
What genre do you pick, and why?
I suppose I have to go with mysteries. For one thing, if you absolutely made me pick a favorite genre, that would be it. But more importantly, for this question, at least, the mystery genre includes an incredibly wide range of styles, settings, etc. It would be much less likely to get monotonous than most other genres.

Do you reckon I would be allowed to choose Young Adult? (We class them separately in the library but I'm not sure that technically YA is a genre)

If I wasn't allowed YA then I think I too would go for mysteries!

I really wouldn't want to have to choose any one genre. But I do seem to be reading mostly mysteries lately. Good answer!

Science fiction also tends to encompass a lot of different genres - if only because once something gets a little bit of science fiction in it, no other genre publisher will touch it.
