December 20, 2006UFO Resurrection Challenge 2007Things I'm DoingA while back, I mentioned that I was going to try to pull out and work on or frog a UFO per month in 2007. People seemed interested, so I thought I'd officially open sign-ups. The Rules If you'd like to join in, just leave a comment. I'll put a list on the sidebar soon. Sign-ups technically close on January 31 (although if you sign up that late, you have to get started on your January resurrection that day, of course). And if anyone with more artistic talent than I have wants to make a button, please feel free... Posted by Kat at December 20, 2006 03:58 PMComments
Sign me up! I'd love to have a reason to finish all those projects I feel guilty about. Good for you! If you need a prize donation, let me know. I'm sure I can clear out something cool... =) Posted by: carrie at December 20, 2006 05:09 PMOh, this one I have to think about!! Clever idea. Posted by: Chris at December 20, 2006 07:10 PMThree single socks and a cardigan to start. Posted by: beadslut at December 20, 2006 07:50 PMUFO cleanup!?! A fabulous way to start the year. Sign me up, please. I'll start Janaury with those lovely Bearfoot socks I thought I was going to wear to Rhinebeck. Back when I thought I had a shot at actually going. Posted by: Erica at December 21, 2006 02:37 AMOrdinarily to join a thing would be the death of a project...but I was already thinking along these lines...so count me in. Knit goddess help me, I have to get SOME of this stuff done. Posted by: Juno at December 21, 2006 10:11 AMWhat a great idea! I'm in. If you saw the list I put on my blog the other day, you'd know I need to join. LOL Now, who knows how to make a button? Posted by: Arleta at December 21, 2006 10:23 AMLet's see, there's Cromarty, a green Rowan top, a cardi that needs buttons, three "pairs" of socks, a flower basket shawl... that's half the year right there and I'm not even thinking hard. Sounds great! Posted by: moirae at December 21, 2006 11:25 AMOh, sign me up! I need this! Woo hoo! Motivation! Posted by: Sandy at December 21, 2006 12:09 PMSign me up! I've got plenty of UFOs to work on... Posted by: Deb at December 21, 2006 12:36 PMI'm in, but I may have to resurrect the same UFO for a few months. It's a crochetted kitty blanket. I did like one square and it went unfairly into UFOdom. It'll take more than a month to finish it, but it will be done. Posted by: Ivy at December 21, 2006 12:52 PMI was just looking at my works-in-progress and despairing .... so I'm in. I've got to clear some of these things off the needles. Posted by: Ruth at December 21, 2006 02:45 PMSuch a great idea. Sign me up please! Posted by: Jen at December 21, 2006 03:37 PMA great way to motivate me to get back to those UFOs, or so I say everytime I join one of these. But since I plan to use up stash in 2007, it's a great way to clear out the UFOs along side. Sign me up! Posted by: Chris at December 21, 2006 05:50 PMI'm in! Posted by: Carol at December 21, 2006 06:23 PMWell, this wouldn't do me any good--the only unfinished projects I've GOT are the ones I'm working on right now! (grin) Two sweaters and a pair of socks, all current and been worked on within the last week . . . Posted by: --Deb at December 21, 2006 06:46 PMI'm in! Posted by: Sarah at December 21, 2006 08:46 PMOoooh I want to sign up, the UFO's are taking over my house. Posted by: Monica at December 22, 2006 02:23 AMHi, Sign me up please! So I can start 2008 "clean" and organised. Great idea! ooh, I'm in. I know I need to do something about those WIPs but I never get around to it. This sounds great! and do-able. Please add me to your list :-) Posted by: Disentangled at December 25, 2006 10:28 AMWhat a great idea!! Please count me in also. Oh my, what am i beginning....oh my... Posted by: Valeria at December 26, 2006 10:21 AMI'm in. I've got several that are just asking for a reason to get finished or frogged. Posted by: AmyW at December 26, 2006 02:50 PMSign me up! I read about this yesterday and I dreamed about it all night (I know crazy). So I guess that I really must do it! I don't have enough UFO's to do all 12 months (at least I don't think I do...I know it's a little sick...I actually usually finish projects). But I do have a few and then I figure I will work on all the ones that I specifically bought yarn for a specific pattern and never have started it. In my book those are also UFO's. So the yarn will either be added back to my stash or the project actually started. I'm so excited!!! Posted by: Tiffany at December 28, 2006 04:50 PMcount me in & i made a button! you can get it here http://www.flickr.com/photos/katknits/338862675/ and on my blog soon http://kat-knits.blogspot.com Posted by: kat at December 30, 2006 04:45 PMHoo AH! I'm in!!!! Posted by: Erica at December 30, 2006 04:57 PMI don't know that I have 12, but it will be pretty darn close. Count me in. Posted by: Karen at December 31, 2006 10:49 PMme too. I have some UFO's that my son outgrew already. Posted by: Juls at January 1, 2007 02:41 AMCount me in - I'm going to search for the UFOs tonight :) Posted by: mrspao at January 1, 2007 03:41 PMOh boy! Sign me up! I have piles...just have to unearth a few to make a list (I hide them!) Posted by: Laura at January 1, 2007 07:47 PMI don't know if I have 12 UFOs, but count me in. And once I get through the UFOs, I can start on the projects that I planned to start (and finish) in 2006. That should cover all 12 months easily. Posted by: JenL at January 1, 2007 09:05 PMOk gonna do it. i hadn't read this post before, but i came back to see what it was about after you asked me twice if i was gonna do it. haha. Posted by: aisling at January 1, 2007 10:33 PMOh, heaven help me! Sign me up! I have, probably, 15 UFOs that need to be finished. I know January's candidate, too. It's the Starmore "Little Rivers" wrap that has been on the needles for (gulp) EIGHT YEARS! Posted by: LizW at January 2, 2007 11:30 AMCount me in. I really need to clear some projects up. Posted by: Vera at January 2, 2007 01:18 PMsign me up! Sign me up :) I know I don't have 12 UFO's, but I'm sure some of the current actives will become UFO's at some point. I think I'll start using my Vox blog for the knitting stuff. I have too many damn blogs. Posted by: Katie at January 3, 2007 12:30 AMAdd me, add me. I'm so in! Posted by: Theresa at January 3, 2007 01:08 AMMe too, though I only have 2 UFO's at the moment. Posted by: Lynn at January 3, 2007 10:40 AMYes, PLEASE sign me up! Posted by: Carol at January 7, 2007 01:47 AMAre you kidding? Fabulous. I thought I didn't have enough to do this, but no, there are projects lurking EVERYWHERE. Count me in! Posted by: Susan at January 7, 2007 05:34 AMThis sounds a lot like what I planned on doing! I'd love to join you... so much more fun to do it along with other people. Posted by: Leisel at January 7, 2007 02:54 PMPlease sign me up! Posted by: Suzanne at January 9, 2007 10:59 AMOh yes, I really need to do this! What a great idea :) Please sign me up!! Posted by: Risa at January 9, 2007 11:16 AMI'm so in. I really need to clear my head and I can't with all these blocked up projects languishing. I admit, my first UFO that gets attention may be a rip-out because I really want to bang out as many red scarves as I can before the month is over, but I will be finishing-FINISHING-the rest of my stuff as bob is my witness. Posted by: jenifleur at January 10, 2007 04:20 PMI'm in for half the year. I'm down to 6 knitting WIP's, all the old UFO's went away a year and a half ago, but I found myself starting too many this past year, so have active 6 projects, and for my well being of mind, that's too many, 'cuz I've got far too many to-admit-to sewing UFO's. By limiting my UFO deal-with-it strategy to one a month iwth the knitting, I take the stress off to get it all done *NOW, and I can focus on the goal I have of 4 finished UFO's/month in my sewing room. Posted by: Marji at January 11, 2007 10:16 AMPlease count me in, I am already making an effort in this direction, but this is even more incentive! I'm including some UFO bead projects along with my knitting!! Posted by: Inky at January 11, 2007 11:40 AMNot only do I want to sign up for this, I really need to sign up for it. It's time to get all of those UFO's out of my apartment! Posted by: Megan at January 11, 2007 01:28 PMi've got at least 12 ufos around the house - sign me up!!! Posted by: michaele at January 12, 2007 01:16 AMHello! I already emailed you about signing up but it never hurts to back it up with a comment. I'm in! Posted by: Erika at January 12, 2007 03:41 PMOh, definitely! I am late to the party (and not even fashionably), but there is still time to rip and resurrect for January. Posted by: Birdsong at January 12, 2007 03:51 PMThis I need - hopefully it will be the motivating factor just to get me to finish something/anything. I just sent away one of my longest UFO's away to be ripped out by someone else :-) It was so freeing. Posted by: michelle at January 13, 2007 07:18 PMSign me up as well! This will be a great way for me to organize all the projects I have on the needels right now (err, like 16!) Posted by: Melanie at January 13, 2007 07:37 PMI'm in. Ohhhhh I can't believe that I'm going to do this. But I am in. In. In. Posted by: Morgan at January 13, 2007 11:30 PMSure, why not. I've actually already started doing this, and I've done two already in January. Posted by: itgirl at January 14, 2007 12:15 AMWhat an excellent idea ... taking baby steps to knock out a rather large problem. I'm in! I've got some to finish and some to frog. Hmmm - what to do first?!?! Posted by: Beth at January 14, 2007 09:24 AMI have 12 FO's and as this is a content and not a KAL, I am in :)
:D Sign me up! Posted by: Tracie at January 14, 2007 01:19 PMI'm not sure if i've signed up already, but I've started finishing things, so sign me up! What a great idea... Posted by: Jennie at January 14, 2007 05:41 PMUm. I have abandoned the quilting world and entered the knitting world with the promise to myself that I wouldn't accumulate UfO's. Now quilting UFO's--I could do this challenge for several years. But knitting--I've successfully limited myself to 3--no more--at a time. Right now I'm down to one. Don't hate me. Can I do quilting ones? Can I include things I have yarn for that I haven't started yet? Hmm. Posted by: Laura at January 14, 2007 09:27 PMI'd like to join. Finishing my UFOs is one of my knitting goals for this year. This sounds like it would help me meet that goal. Posted by: Pensguys at January 15, 2007 08:53 AMIs it too late to sign up??? Is it too late to sign up??? I totally need this! I have several things just hanging over my head that I would love to get cleared out and over and done with. Thanks for the challenge!!! Posted by: Monet at January 15, 2007 03:47 PMSign me up!!! Totally into this... Posted by: Monet at January 15, 2007 03:58 PMI know I need to - I've got boxes stacked oh so high, no new cupboards (yet!) and no more excuses *determined face on* sign me up please! Posted by: Kate at January 15, 2007 05:25 PMOh, I'm in alright. I truly am the queen of the "let's just buy new needles because the others are currently in progress." My sister, bless her fucking heart (all bitterness included), doesn't have in WIPs but I have plenty. Posted by: Ava at January 15, 2007 06:53 PMOk, I'm in. I listed my WIPs/UFOs on my blog, but I think I will be finding a few more as I work my way through the stash! Now let's see... do quilt UFOs count too? Then I'd have to have 3 per month or some such... Posted by: Marie at January 15, 2007 07:18 PMSign me up! I know I have at least 6 in the pile... but I'm sure there are more. Posted by: Cece at January 15, 2007 09:57 PMI don't think I have twelve UFO's, I'll definitely work on the ones I've got. Posted by: Rhoadan at January 16, 2007 02:41 AMSign me up! I posted about my "2007 Knitsolutions" which was essentially about the same, but I like the mob mentalilty. Posted by: Colleen at January 16, 2007 12:12 PMI'm in. Thanks. I have enough UFO's to keep me busy until May, at least, so this will be great! Posted by: Kirsty at January 16, 2007 12:29 PMI'm in. I suspect I'll be frogging more than finishing, but I'd love to get my backlog of UFOs outta here. Great idea!! Posted by: Jennie] at January 16, 2007 02:32 PMJust came across your challenge - sign me up! I dug out all my UFO's today and have 25 - well, 24 actually, one got finished today - so maybe I'll get more than 12 done. I'm committing to no new projects and no new yarn purchases until the UFO's are gone! Sure hope I can make it. Posted by: Lea at January 16, 2007 02:46 PMI'd like to join, too! If I finnish up a few OFOs, I'll have more room for yarn! Posted by: Michelle at January 16, 2007 07:40 PMCount me in! First I'll finish my sweater from Rowan "The Next Big Thing" The sweater is Murmur and I keep putting it on the bottom of the pile. I'll pick it up today!!! What do we do with photos? Put them on our blogs? Thanks, I'm in - can I count the socks I just finished from last April? Posted by: DeltaDAwn at January 17, 2007 09:20 AMCount me in! Posted by: Monica at January 17, 2007 10:51 AMThis is exactly what I need! Sign me up, please! I'm selling my house and thinning my stash, which includes finishing up all of those UFOs (I didn't realize what a Process Knitter I am!). Great idea! Posted by: Carielynn at January 17, 2007 11:03 AMAdd me to the list. Perhaps I'll be inspired to finish a few! Posted by: Kristy at January 17, 2007 09:32 PMHi sign me up and let me know what I need to do. I need inspiration to finish up some UFO's. I dont think I have 12 but it may be close. Thanks for coming up with this! Posted by: Angela at January 17, 2007 11:07 PMI'm in! What a brilliant idea, and it'll help me keep my my knit year's resolution for one FO a month! Posted by: Ashley at January 18, 2007 03:41 AMSign me up!!! I am working a few of them now. This will give a good push to finish those UFOs that are packed away. Posted by: Loren at January 18, 2007 07:12 AMOh yes, I came via Birdsong - I will need this during the year! May I play, too? I was thinking about setting this challenge for myself anyway but if I have lots of other people to encourage me it will be so much easier! It was brought home to me this week when I had to empty the space under the sofa bed (which is where my yarn and UFO's hide) how many UFO's I have...and some are only UFO's because they need sewing up. Count me in. I've got plenty of UFO's hanging around. In fact, I have the perfect one for January in mind (It's a frogger!) Posted by: The Queen of the Snow Cows at January 18, 2007 01:14 PMOh wow. I had suggested to my fellow Blogstalkers that we photograph our WIPs/UFOs and show them on our blogs. My 14 are up on my blog and I would welcome some more incentive to finish them! I particularly like the rule that states we don't have to finish them within a given month. So count me in! Posted by: Andi at January 19, 2007 07:40 PMI am sooo in. Actually, I all ready started and finished one of my UFO's earlier this month. So any way I am in such a great idea. Tess Posted by: araygirl at January 20, 2007 11:45 AMSign me up! I have a whole Rubbermaid tub of UFO's to bust this year, and I can probably tie this in to Project Spectrum somehow. Posted by: Amanda at January 20, 2007 02:16 PMSign me up! I've already made a list of UFO's and resolutions on my blog ( avknits.blogspot.com ), but I hadn't included the detail of potential frogging. I LOVE IT. I promise to frog things I can't take anymore (even including the fuzzy pillow which has landed me in Fun Fur Heck). woo hoooooo! Posted by: Alison at January 20, 2007 06:16 PMPlease sign me up - this is a good one! Posted by: Marceline at January 22, 2007 11:10 PMOh oh... mee mee. Please include me! I'm moving and in the process of packing have found TONS of UFOs! Where did they come from???? Thanks for spurring me on. Posted by: Denyse at January 23, 2007 11:01 AMSIGN. ME. UP. This is brilliant!! I need it! You Rock! Posted by: Ashley at January 24, 2007 06:23 AMI am on a de-cluttering kick right now, and an amazing amount of the clutter here is unfinished projects. This is perfect! I'm in! Posted by: GailV at January 25, 2007 09:46 AMI'd like to be in please =) Not quite too late to start, right? Now where was that knitting I'm trying to get done this month ... please sign me up, and I'll get right to it. Posted by: Amelia at January 30, 2007 06:36 PMSqueaking in under the deadline.
